SNOMED CT is already the most comprehensive global health terminology. However, SNOMED International recognizes that there remains much work to do to enhance coverage in some clinical domains, to further enhance modeling of content and to update keep pace with the rapid development of clinical and scientific knowledge.
New content is added to each release in response to user requests and existing content is subject to regular review and refinement. In addition, content domains are considered for inclusion on a regular basis. For these reasons, in a sense SNOMED CT will never be complete, but it will continue to develop to reflect the current understanding and recording requirements of the clinical care process.
