What are the licensing requirements for offering a cloud-based solution using SNOMED CT via APIs, online, or mobile services across multiple countries?

Modified on Wed, 21 May at 5:53 PM

The license depends on the country where your solution will be used. Where the content is hosted will not impact the license, only where the SNOMED CT content is being used

For any mobile or cloud applications or services that are intended to be global in nature, i.e. used in more than one country, please contact SNOMED International to discuss global licenses.

For any solution which is used in a Member country, then you will need to apply for a SNOMED CT license from the relevant Member country.

If your solution is intended to be used in a non-Member country, then you will need to apply for SNOMED CT license through SNOMED International and pay the relevant fee.

If the service is offered to healthcare organisations as a SaaS (e.g. online primary care surgery software), then you should ensure that this is made clear in your license application on MLDS. You will be charged per site (e.g. clinic, hospital, etc) using the service.
