Changes to the SNOMED CT Affiliate license in 2023 aimed to remove barriers to SNOMED CT adoption, particularly to allow SNOMED CT codes to be used in cross-border situations. The changes allow SNOMED CT codes and descriptions to be transferred to a non-SNOMED international Member countries or non-SNOMED CT Affiliate licensed systems. The changes to the Affiliate license allow the receiving system to store, display and forward the SNOMED CT codes and descriptions.
