The changes to the Affiliate licence made in 2023, updated the guidance around the use of SNOMED CT codes in non-Member countries and non-licensed systems. The summary of the guidance is as follows:
- For a SNOMED CT licensed system user, there are no restrictions associated with sending SNOMED CT codes and descriptions to any system, whether it is a SNOMED CT licensed or un-licensed system
- In a non-SNOMED CT licensed system, the user may:
- Receive SNOMED CT codes and descriptions
- Store SNOMED CT codes and descriptions in there system and data repository
- Forward SNOMED CT codes and descriptions to either a SNOMED CT licensed or unlicensed system
